Hall County Siren #37 – Federal Signal Thunderbolt 1003A

I decided to have my grandma try and make a video of the Thunderbolt 1003 at Central Nebraska Regional Airport. And they did a hi lo! The wind down got cut short because her camera stopped recording. And before anyone asks, there are no “hiccups” in this test, there are just so many buildings around that it echos and can make the siren sound funny.

@JKSK8ERLIVE It was just the solenoid. You can just hear the first one because after that the blower is running and the siren is louder than the solenoids.

  2. JKSK8ERLIVE says:

@ 1:01 what was that “click” sound was that u switching it to hi lo or was it the solenoids activating?

Back in the early 1970s after the Super Outbreak the local CD and the EM had a bunch of these Thunderbolts installed. Some of them look like they are in great condition but there are a few that look like they havent seen a coat of paint since they were installed in 1974!!!!

I do plan on going there Monday the 28th. The guy I know at the airport can set it off whenever he wants and said he would set it off for me. Then he said I could even go up into the tower because it’s pretty much eye level with the projector horn. I might even get to set it off! =D

  18. antiwhoknows says:

There is quite a few 2001’s, mostly from the early 1990’s. There is one that was put up in 2007 and two put up this year, replacing Thunderbolts. :

  19. dockwellian45 says:

Great video! Do they have any Federal Signal 2001’s in Grand Island, or just Thunderbolt’s? I live in Lincoln, Nebraska, and they replaced almost every Thunderbolt with a Federal Signal 2001.

  20. antiwhoknows says:

I can, but it can’t be until November because I can only get to them myself on weekends with school. I think I’ll save it for Nov. 15th because I want to stand under one when it tests and I can’t do that with this one.

  21. jsncrso says:

Pleas tell me you plan on recording this siren again!
